N.B. These former students were taught drama at the then comprehensive school under the tutelage of the drama teacher and professional playwright Jude Cole (who herself played Madame Thenardier in the school production of Les Miserables) and Dee Ladds and music under the tutelage of music teachers Anthony Wright (who was Musical Director for the school production of Les Miserables) and Chris Hydes.

Also worth noting regarding the music department at the school is that the two Cana brothers (Josh and Joel) formed their first professional band "The Gentlemen" in 2005 while Josh Cana was still studying there and likewise in this year Vicki Sampson (Ryan Sampson's sister, now at the time of writing professionally known as Vicki Olivia) formed her first professional band "The Superficial Heroes" playing saxophone along with Luke Simnett who sang vocals in the group, likewise studying at the department at the time. Both bands (and indeed the four respective  former pupils) shared their debut gig together at The Grapes pub on Trippet Lane in Sheffield before going on to support acts such as "The Saturdays" and "We Are Scientists" in the case of "The Gentlemen" and acts including "Jive Bunny" and "RX Bandits" in the case of "The Superficial Heroes".
